Decanter on DOMAINE DE BEAURENARD

They do great work to support the appellation more broadly. They have 70ha spread over Châteauneuf, Rasteau and Côtes-du-Rhône, all of which is farmed biodynamically.
This approach tends to make for better wines, but it’s good for local biodiversity too, from which everyone benefits.
Being staunch believers in Châteauneuf’s heritage grapes, the family have also established a conservatory for all 18 varieties.
Some, such as Piquepoul Gris and Clairette Rose, are hard to find at local vine nurseries, so the Coulon family help neighbouring estates by providing cuttings.
They are deeply invested in their village and its future.

Wine Advocate, May 2024
The 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape is just as tasty as the Boisrenard special cuvée this vintage, with very similar notes of black raspberries, black olives and garrigue. Perhaps a bit lighter-bodied (still medium to full-bodied), it's a touch creamy on the mid-palate, then adds hints of dark chocolate on the supple, lingering finish. The assemblage here is less Grenache-heavy (65%), with 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and small amounts of other permitted varieties.

Jeb Dunnuck, October 2023
A smaller production release that's based largely on a field blend, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Boisrenard sees a touch of stems and is aged mostly in foudre, with a tiny 2% in new oak. One of the deeper hued, richer, more structured and serious wines in the vintage, it has an absolutely gorgeous perfume of blackberries, sappy garrigue, spring flowers, graphite, and crushed stone. It's not massive by any means and shows the more linear style of the 2021 vintage, yet it has a great mid-palate, clean, vibrant acidity, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's a brilliant bottle of wine that will benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face over the following decade or more.

Wine Spectator, August 2023
A beautifully alluring white, with acacia flower perfume followed by slightly honeyed citrus and yellow apple. Shows a savory bed of crushed flint that grounds the palate, filled out with fleur de sel and shortbread notes. Brimming with energy, this is well-balanced through the medium-to-long finish, which is flecked with grapefruit pith and smoke. Grenache Blanc, Clairette Blanche, Grenache Gris, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Picpoul de Pinet, Picardan and Clairette Rose. Drink now through 2032.
