This light straw–colored beauty features a classic petrol-to-grapefruit nose with a hint of baby’s-breath flowers and a kiss of wet stone. Grapefruit peel gives a pleasant texture to the mouthfeel while dill, tarragon, and chamomile add zest, zing, and tonality.

The 2019 Yealands Sauvignon Blanc is a spot-on example of what this grape variety produces in Marlborough. This wine is fresh, brisk, and satisfying. Its lively aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, dried herbs, and light chalkiness should pair well with a dozen raw oysters and a sprinkling of tart citrus.

Yealands is large project in the Awatere Valley sub-region of Marlborough. Fruit from this cooler, more maritime region is often more green, and this shows the fresh dill, green chestnut, celery leaf and capsicum I have come to expect. It's quite intense and nervy with mouthwatering lime-like acidity a touch of heat and well positioned balancing sweetness. It has some bitterness; and very good to excellent length. Tasted June 2015.
