About this winery

From its humble beginnings in 1898, Vignobles Brunier has become one of the great family domaines of the Southern Rhône. Fourth generation brothers Daniel and Frédéric Brunier now oversee a very impressive array of properties, including La Roquète (Chateâuneuf-du-Pape), Les Pallières (Gigondas), and Le Pigeoulet (Vin de Pays de Vaucluse) as well as the legendary flagship Le Vieux Télégraphe. They have even expanded their activities to Lebanon, where they are now winegrowers at Massaya...

Product notes

Vines sit on a dense layer of clay with a high stone content, and covered by a blanket of pebbles commonly referred to as “galets roulés”.

Production notes

Grapes are hand-picked with fermentation occurring in barrique, lees maturation also occurring in barriques and 30-hectolitre foudres; wine is then bottled at 1 year.

Tasting notes

A classic expression of white Châteauneuf-du-Pape, more floral than fruity, and characterised by great balance and freshness.

Jeb Dunnuck, August 2019 (Vintage 2017)

Loads of lemon curd, crushed citrus, white flowers, and salty sea breeze as well as an incredible minerality all emerge from the 2017 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc. It's concentrated, layered, and has a Burgundian sense of purity, elegance, and length on the palate. While 2017 was a hot, sunny year, it has a brilliant sense of freshness. It’s approachable today, but it will benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for two decades or more.

December 2017 (Vintage 2016)

Ripe and rich, but focused, with verbena, bitter almond and wet stone notes threading through the core of creamed yellow apple, pear and melon flavors. Very long, with a gorgeous salted butter echo. Drink now through 2020. 2,100 cases made.

May 2020 (Vintage 2018)

There's lots to like here, with bright honeysuckle, acacia and star fruit notes leading off, followed quickly by richer yellow apple, lemon curd and verbena flavors. A subtle shortbread accent caresses the finish, where a stony hint ripples in the background.
